HRCI's Associate Professional in Human Resources™ (aPHR™) is the perfect certification to help fast-track your career growth and provide you with the confidence to launch into the HR profession. The aPHR is the first-ever HR certification designed for professionals who are just beginning their HR career journey and proves your knowledge of foundational Human Resources. 

To be eligible for the aPHR you must have a high school diploma or global equivalent. No HR experience is required since this is a knowledge-based credential.



Advance your HR career by earning the Professional in Human Resources® (PHR®) from HR Certification Institute® (HRCI®). The PHR demonstrates your mastery of the technical and operational aspects of HR management, including U.S. laws and regulations. The PHR is for the HR professional who has experience with program implementation, has a tactical/logistical orientation, is accountable to another HR professional within the organization, and has responsibilities that focus on the HR department rather than the whole organization.

To be eligible for the PHR you must meet one of the following conditions for education and experience:

  • Have at least one year of experience in a professional-level HR position + a Master’s degree or higher,
  • Have at least two years of experience in a professional-level HR position + a Bachelor’s degree, OR
  • Have at least four years of experience in a professional-level HR position + a high school diploma.

To be eligible for the SPHR you must meet one of the following conditions for education and experience:

  • Have at least four years of experience in a professional-level HR position + a Master’s degree or higher,
  • Have at least five years of experience in a professional-level HR position + a Bachelor’s degree, OR
  • Have at least seven years of experience in a professional-level HR position + a high school diploma.

Prep-Course Registrations

We believe that limited class sizes encourage maximum participation and will provide an optimal learning environment. Our class sizes will be limited. 

Although it is not our intention, please be advise that in rare occasions, changes to dates and/or tuition are possible.  We will make every effort to provide timely notice.

McAllen PHR®/ SPHR®  (Registration Closed) Prep-Course is scheduled for 12 consecutive Thursdays from 6pm to 9pm total of 35 training hours. Projected start date: Spring 2019.  

Brownsville PHR®/ SPHR® Prep-Course is scheduled for 12 consecutive Saturdays, from 9 am to 12 pm projected 36 training hours.  Projected start date: Spring 2019. (Payment options available.)

Certificate of Completion


There are 12 classes including Orientation. Students must attend 8 of the 12 scheduled live class times (includes the Orientation) AND- all HRCP practice assessments must be passed at 90%. The final must be completed by the 12th class to receive a certificate of completion.  

REFUND POLICY:  Please do not register unless you are committed to this course of instruction to prepare for the aPHR®, PHR® SPHR® exam.  Once we receive payment, AND WE HAVE A CLASS OF 5 or more, we will order and ship your learning materials,  process your payment and there will be no refund.  After payment is made - you find you cannot for some reason attend the program, you will receive a credit to another class at no charge. 

We reserve the right to reschedule courses based on participation.
